‘Arrow’ Executive Producer Admits He Regrets Olicity Relationship [SPOILERS]

Last night, Arrow aired it’s 100th episode on The CW, also coinciding with the network’s crossover event of all four of its DC superhero shows. The episode featured Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) experiencing what his life would have been like if he had never taken the boat ride that eventually led him to becoming the Green Arrow, though it turned out to be an illusion while Oliver, Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), Thea Queen (Willa Holland), and John Diggle (David Ramsey) were captured by the events main villains – aliens called the Dominators.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Mark Guggenheim spoke about creating the 100th episode, as well as how much work goes into creating each episode. He also spoke to having a few regrets in regards to story decisions – one of them being the relationship between Oliver and Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards).

“I’d say probably my biggest regret is I wish we had allowed the Oliver-Felicity storyline in season 4 to unfold at a more natural pace. We had set these tentpoles at the beginning of the season, and we were a bit too rigorous on how we hit them. That was a case where the planning overtook the storytelling. We didn’t do things as naturally and as elegantly as we should have.”

Oliver and Felicity (or Olicity) has long been a popular relationship among fans of the show, with some still holding out hope that they might up end up together again eventually. However, that does not seem likely in the immediate future, as Felicity is in a relationship with Detective Billy Malone (Tyler Ritter) and Oliver seems to be in the same boat with Coast City journalist Susan Williams (Carly Pope).

The final event of the DC crossover event airs tonight in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow on The CW at 8pm ET/7pm CT.
