Adam Nimoy plans ‘For the Love of Spock’ Documentary! Kickstarter Launched!

UPDATE: The official Kickstarter campaign has begun all additional information can be found at the official Kickstarter page: Adam Nimoy “For the Love of Spock” Kickstarter

How it started.

Last year, just before Thanksgiving, I approached my dad, Leonard Nimoy, about the possibility of working together on a film about Mr. Spock. I had skimmed through some of the books on the making of Star Trek and felt there was so much more to explore about the birth and evolution of Spock. And the timing seemed right, as the 50th anniversary of Star Trek: The Original Series was not that far away. Dad agreed that now was the right time, and that he was 100% committed to collaborating with me on this project. He also reminded me that we were (then) just days away from the 50th anniversary of the start of production on “The Cage,” the original pilot for Star Trek in which Dad first appeared as Mr. Spock.

Please participate in my Kickstarter campaign and help me complete a project that was important to my dad and has become extremely important to me.

Thanks again for your time and consideration.

LLAP, – Adam Nimoy

It has been months since the death of Leonard Nimoy, but he will forever live long and prosper in our hearts.

On January 29, 2014 Leonard Nimoy announced to the world via Twitter that he had been diagnosed with the chronic respiratory disease known as COPD. He died on February 27th, just a little over a year after his announcement.

Nimoys Son Adam has announced that he plans to host a documentary that will honor his father. It will be called For the Love of Spock. Apparently this film has been in the plans for several months, but Leonard felt that he had plenty of time and unfortunately that wasn’t the case.

The sudden death of his father has prompted Adam Nimoy to advance with their plans and he has already gotten fell Star Trek actors to join in the tribute. Actor Zachary Quinto, who played Spock in the last two films will narrate the documentary. William Shatner has also agreed to an appearance.

Adam hopes to release the film in time for Star Treks 50th anniversary in September of next year. When asked about why he chose to move forward with the film Adam stated,“I was struck with the outpouring of affection for him after he died, so this feels like the right thing to do.”
