Alan Rickman, most known for his recent portrayal of Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films, passed away this morning after a bout with cancer at the age of 69 at his home in London.  Rickman, who has been featured in a number of films, was considered one of Britain’s best-loved actors primarily for his roles as Snape and Hans Gruber in Die Hard.  His role as the Sheriff of Nottingham in 1991’s Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves earned Rickman a BAFTA Award.
