A New Animated ”66′ Batman Series for the 50th Anniversary with Adam West and Burt Ward!

The Batman TV series became an icon of the 60’s, running for 120 episodes over three seasons on ABC and finally ending in 1968. Batman has continued to entertain generations for over 40 years. Many of us grew up watching it in reruns and we all have our favorite lines, scenes and episodes.

At the Mad Monster Con, special guests Adam West and Burt Ward announced that they will both be starring in a new 90-minute animated feature, that we assume will be set in the time period of the 1960’s TV series.

“You can look forward to a new, animated Batman full-length 90-minute feature coming out on the fiftieth anniversary,” Ward said at a panel celebrating the show. “One of possibly two, but for sure one, that Adam and I are going to be doing the voices for.”

It would be fitting if they can get a few of the surviving Batman cast to make voice appearances in tribute to the 50th anniversary as well, such as Yvonne Craig who played Batgirl in season 3.

Unfortunately many of the original cast have passed on and there are only three villains left from the original cast. Two of the actresses that played Catwoman remain though who of them would make the better voice actress is hard to judge. Julie Newmar was the villainess for the first two seasons and Lee Meriwether played the feline temptress in the movie. The other remaining cast member is John Astin who played The Riddler in season 2.
