Since it is set to be released approximately the same time as the film, Jim Lee spoke with CBR recently on how his upcoming Suicide Squad series intertwines with the film and how it differs:
“I’ve actually passed on the opportunity to see elements of the movie, because I want us to really forge our own identity. But at the same time, I have seen the trailers, and they are doing a kick-ass job with it, so you can’t help but be influenced from that aspect. I think the closest similarity is that the rosters align fairly closely: Katana, Harley Quinn, Rick Flag, Deadshot, Killer Croc, Boomerang,” Lee revealed.
Thankfully, their depiction of Amanda Waller has pushed aside The New 52’s Waller with her svelte, top-heavy, young self and brings it back more old school and similar to Viola Davis portrayal in the upcoming film.
