With the release of mega-hit Star Wars: The Force Awakens on DVD and Blu-Ray today (April 5th), we are getting additional footage and features with which to grow in admiration for the franchise.
Case in point: BuzzFeed has put out an exclusive video featuring Daisy Ridley as she auditions for the role of Rey. We also get to hear from both her and director J.J. Abrams regarding what the director was seeking in the role of Rey.
Watch the video to see how intense the audition was and how brilliant Ridley was in trying out. JJ Abrams points out he expected a lot from the actor trying out for the role, and how he knew Daisy was the one…
“This character needed to be vulnerable and tough, sweet and terrified,” Abrams explained in the video. “And to find someone that no one knew who could do all these things took a lot of looking.”
