Podcast: “Whatcha Doin’ in Comics?” Ep. 2: Paul Eza of Acorn Comics

Jason Bennett Avatar

Welcome to PodCultHQ‘s exclusive podcast featuring people in the comic book industry who are making an impact with what they created… It’s time for… “Whatcha Doin’ in Comics?

For episode two, I spoke with Paul Eza (Heroes & Zeros, Intrusion, The Olympian) about his publishing label – Acorn Comics.

Paul is a lifelong nerd, former prosecutor, and practicing mediator who knows his way around a mystery. In his years as a litigator, Paul spent his time searching for the truth, which was often buried beneath layers of lies and deception. He then used that truth to craft a compelling narrative to present to his audience (AKA judge, jury, or opposing party). But at night (and sometimes far too early in the morning), he builds more fantastical worlds, where the truth is also hidden several layers deep, and he leads his characters (and the reader) through thrilling and poignant narratives that dwarf any story he ever told in court.

Having run a successul campaign on Kickstarter earlier this year with HEROES & ZEROS, the indie publisher is moving forward with a second title – THE OLYMPIAN – in early 2025. Here’s a look at the HEROES & ZEROS premiere issue…

Heroes & Zeros is a 46-page murder-mystery comic book set in a future where the majority of people have enhanced abilities, and those who don’t—known as Zeros—are considered worthless. But when the most powerful person on Earth is murdered, three Zeros and their dog are recruited by an underground resistance group to solve the murder and expose the conspiracy behind it.

Thanks to our wonderful backers, the Kickstarter edition will include a two-page bonus story by GAIL SIMONE!
