Anime Iowa 2024, held from July 26-28 at the Hyatt Regency in Coralville, Iowa, brought together anime enthusiasts for a weekend filled with panels, cosplay, and gaming. As one of the Midwest’s largest and longest-running anime conventions, it attracted thousands of attendees. This year’s theme, “Studio Pigli,” was reflected in various events and artwork.
The game room hosted a variety of video games across a variety of consoles and formats. Fromt eh classic Nintendo 64 to the current day switch, you could experiment with gaming machines and sample games to your hearts content.
Guests for this year’s event included voice actors Sean Chiplock and Corina Boettger and musical guests included The Shake Ups and DJ killAvolt. There were also performances by Naughty Nerds Cabaret and the No brand Charity Drag show.
Rate the Con
Our new thing for 2024 is to ask our readers to take a poll on some basic components of the con. We want to know how you rate the parking, the vendors and the food. The poll closes after 30 days and we will use this as a baseline for next years convention. We plan to keep a rating system set up for many of the conventions.

We realize that these don’t apply to all conventions, so if they don’t apply to your con, give them a 5 star.

Of course, for many one of the best parts is the cosplay itself. With also 30 scheduled photo shoots and randomly wandering cosplayers there was a lot to see.
