February 29 through March 3rd was Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle, Washington. This is one of Reed Pops biggest events. It’s a great place for cosplay photos, celebrity meet and greets, find collectibles, or just to hang with your friends and other like minded people.

It doesn’t matter if you are a anime fan, a gamer, sci-fi nerd, fantasy freak, cosplayer, or art lover, Emerald City Comic Con had something for everyone. This event was packed with meet and greets, panels, comics, fanfic, and screenings that covered all interests. There were fan photo meet ups, and panels on everything imaginable.

Ratings:

Our new thing for 2024 is to ask our readers to take a poll on some basic components of the con. We want to know how you rate the parking, the vendors and the food. The poll closes after 30 days and we will use this as a baseline for next years convention. We hope to eventually have a rating system set up for many of the conventions.

Variety

Celebrity guests included Chris Evans, Elijah Woods, Sean Astin, James Hong, Christina Ricci, Misha Collins and those are just a few of them. Multiple fandoms were represented. They had from the cast of the animated Avatar: The Last Airbender to the vampire drama Twilight, there was no shortage of variety.

This was the second year in the new Summit building which is just a few blocks away from the old convention center. The convention was spread out at both the Arch and Summit locations. The Arch was being used for autographs, photo-ops and panels.

Like all big events there were obviously some problems. The biggest complaints were regarding the celebrity photo ops and autograph lines. It seems the scheduling was way off, some celebs were late, some were early. Some of the photo ops ran a ahead of schedule meaning that people arriving on time, missed their opportunities. All the lines were long, which is pretty much expected.

The biggest complaint, besides wait times, was the fact that it was in two separate buildings. This meant that people had to go between the Summit and the Arch, not exactly the easiest for ADA. The separate buildings did help thin out the massive crowds a little. Unfortunately, there probably isn’t too much Reed Pop can do to make this easier for people. ECCC has gotten enormous so there is no other choice but to spread it out into multiple locations like several other conventions have done.
