PopCultHQ continues its look at  Action Lab Entertainment’s Bigfoot – Sword of the Earthman #2. Over the next few days, we will also give you our reviews of all four available books in this title. No worries. No real spoilers, but will certainly be sure to discuss the progression of this series and, by the looks of it, the countless ways this futuristic tale could go. PopCultHQ Review – Bigfoot – Sword of the Earthman #2

Issue two begins fiercely with intense action and imagery. Alliances are formed. The great “Earthman” has made his presence felt on the red planet. A presence built on protecting, honoring, and avenging those in need. Finally, in his rage to defend the oppressed, the mighty beast belts out bellowing words for the first time.

The darker tones of the environment shows the mounting threat to this Martian world. War. Bloodshed. Fear. Pilfering. Scheming. You become instantaneously immersed in this epic, dystopian-like world where survival is an everyday way of life. It truly appears it will take the mighty force and passion from Bigfoot, the “Earthman,” to fulfill his destiny as hero to the planet.

Oh, and impending peril awaits our cast as the issue concludes. Issue three looks to be in for some more angst, bloodlust, and inevitable carnage.

You are along for a Mad Max kind of ride in this issue. Writer Josh S. Henaman really cranked up the intensity and the brutality in these badlands. The artwork team of Taylor and Bonvillain also show improved visual aspects to this distant land: a depiction of the graphic nature of the violence, a beautiful look at the savagery encountered, and surprisingly what kept catching my eye was their use of shading that gave definition to the darkness but also accentuated the intensity of the extreme heat and sunlight. Kudos team!
