Ai-Kon is an annual three-day anime convention held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. This event was started in 2001 and held at the University of Manitoba, but it has since moved to the RBC Convention Centre.
The convention’s name is a blend of the words “ai” (Japanese for love) and “convention” and is derived from its slogan “For the love of anime.” The word “ai” was also chosen to play on the fact that the club had a magazine they called Anime Injection.
This is a fun anime-based event that both vendors and attendees enjoy. In fact, I saw a few vendors raving about how well they were treated by the convention. The attendee issues were minimal.
Cosplay photos are provided by a neutral third party with no opinions given on the event. Cosplay photos are provided to highlight the skills and enthusiasm of the photographer and cosplayers. All opinions and facts in the article are by the author.
As you know, we always strongly focus on the cosplay that is attendance and on the floor at the convention. This time, thanks to Aaron Scrapneck, we get photos of the cosplay contest.
