Spookala is a horror convention filled with celebrities, spooks, artists, and vendors. The latest event ran June 9-11 and was held at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, FL.
The guest list was impressive with guests such as Jake Busey, Ron Perlman, Elden Henson, Seth Green, Robin Tunney, Rain Wilson, and a whole lot more.
This was only their third event but it was a hit, at least with the attendees that were seeking autographs. The vendors weren’t as impressed. According to vendors, the attendee numbers were MUCH lower than estimated and Friday was almost a ghost town. One thing I heard repeatedly from both vendors and attendees is that were too many vendors selling the same items. When you go shopping at a convention, you want variety. The other complaint was about food, but please keep in mind that convention organizers rarely have control over the food selections or prices.
