Science fiction is a genre that has seen many fantastic books over the years, many that have taken slices of history and built up a story around them to tell an alternate tale of a “what if”-style adventure.

Yet with Robert Buettner’s compelling novel ‘My Enemy’s Enemy’, the history is not only real (to an extent), the science involved is as well.

An adventure that had this reviewer on the edge of their seat with every page turn, the story takes place both during the modern age and throughout the timeline of WWII. A drama that has characters Cassidy Gooding and Frank Luck racing the clock to track down one of the remaining military secrets of Nazi Germany, combined with the excitement of physicist Peter Winter’s attempts to breach scientific barriers, all while stalling Heinrich Himmler and his goals to win the war.

The book itself was utterly enjoyable and engaging, so much that this reviewer has read it through five times now.

Buettner is a brilliant writer, well-versed in military history. He has a gift for crafting science-fiction that is grounded in reality, yet does not shy away from telling a story that is equal parts sci-fi adventure, military thriller, with just a dash of Zane Grey thrown in for good measure.
