This week’s Matchbox Makerspace interview was with John Warns of Antidote Modeling.

John started 3D modeling on Tinkercat in 7th grade and enjoyed bringing his imagination to reality. He expanded to other programs since then.

He recommends that beginners start with Tinkercat to 3D modeling, then move up to Fusion 360 and more advanced programs after you have the basics.

In his 6 years of working in the 3D modeling industry, John Warns has worked with clients ranging from Chrysler to Indiana University. Though 3D modeling makes up a lot of his work, he has a passion for 3D printing, and wishes to pursue a career in the field. He is currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Purdue. Besides being a full time student, John co-runs two business ventures. Antidote Modeling, his 3D modeling company, focuses on making 3D models tailored to 3D printing.John became instantly interested in MatchBOX Makerspace. He is now an active member of the maker team, and frequently can be found tinkering with the various 3D printers there.

About Matchbox Makerspace:
Matchbox Makerspace is the place to be when it comes to crafting anything and everything.

MatchBOX is a place to work for those who don’t have places to work. Think of a coffee shop mashed up with an office park in an old garage. It’s a room full of desks with all the amenities you need to get work done: 24-hour secure access, conference rooms, the fastest internet in town, and an unlimited supply of coffee and snacks.

It’s a great place to start a new business, or to grow an existing small business. It’s for the hobbyist with a crazy new idea, the moonlighting entrepreneur, or the professional office nomad. It’s for developers, designers, strategists, artisans, writers, makers, and change-makers of all types. It’s a home for the creative class in Lafayette, West Lafayette, and throughout the midwest.

From cosplay to brewing, you never know what will be next. Catch their interviews live every Monday at https://www.facebook.com/MatchBOXMakerspace.
