Raid: Shadow Legends is a mighty, meaty strategy gacha-RPG where the objective is to collect the best heroes in the game and power them up so you can become the strongest player in your server.  With different modes, lots of champions, and more to learn about, you might need this guide by ProClockers and a tier list so you can get started with absolute confidence.

Plarium did a great job at designing the combat in this game as it’s very approachable for beginners but also has a learning curve that they will need to master as they progress through RAID’s combat scenarios and levels. As you make your way through the different stages, you will unlock powerful champions with increasingly-complex abilities that change the way you approach each battle, giving the game much variety when it comes to the actual combat.

1. Choose a good starter

At the start of the game you’re asked to choose a champion. You are given 4 rare champions to choose from. We recommend choosing either Kael or Athel as your starter in Raid: Shadow Legends. Either one can take you all the way to the late-game.

2. Check out the Campaign

Whilst it’s true that dungeons will give better rewards then the campaign, the rewards from the campaign will set you up to progress further in the dungeons compared to not having done the campaign first. Also, you get to immerse yourself in the story, which is an essential part of the game’s experience.

3. Refer a Champion Tier List and expand your team

Once you’ve cleared the campaign and are looking to create specialized teams for every occasion, you’ll want to start summoning the best champions in the game, according to the tier list in the current meta. Luckily, there’s quite a lot of variety to be had in RAID: Shadow Legends, especially due to the fact that its champions are quite balanced and shine in specific circumstances. While some characters can fit into many compositions, most of them can be customized by equipping them with artifacts and powerful gear that will make them better suited for specific situations.

As in a lot of gacha games, there are several methods for receiving new characters in Raid: Shadow Legends. Of them all, the most common methods are through performing summonings, as well as by receiving them as a part of story events. Due to the design of the game, the former is, by far, the most common method for acquiring new characters, and almost all your efforts will, in some way, be related to procuring the necessary materials to perform these rituals.

5. Take your time and Grind

There’s a lot to see and do in Raid: Shadow Legends, so don’t be afraid to take your time when playing. You don’t need to rush to the late game, you can learn the systems, find champions you like, and spend your time the way you see fit. In addition, trying challenges that are too hard may see you meet with failure and no-one needs that.

Grinding is part of the game and can give you exceptional rewards or help level up champions that are lagging behind. Don’t be afraid to dive in for a spot of grinding here and there, even if it’s just to test a new champion out and see what they’re capable of.

6. Upgrade your Mine, Market, and Sparring Pit

Each of these is essential especially if you’re committing to the long haul and planning on playing the game for a while. The Gem Mine helps get you gems, the Market is excellent for getting artifacts and blue shards, and the Sparring Pit provides you with plenty of XP.

7. Obtain more fragments

There are many ways to find fragments in this game. The main method for obtaining mystery shards, for example, is by simply playing the game. There are many tasks and missions that grant these shards as rewards. Furthermore, by playing at least 20 minutes every day, you will receive a free mystery shard. The higher-quality shards, however, are earned by participating in special tasks. For example, there are many different game modes that yield ancient shards as rewards, including traversing the different keeps (void, spirit, magic, force, and arcane), as well as through exploring the dragon’s lair, among others. Similarly, if you manage to save up enough gems, you may also purchase a shard pack from the store. Keep in mind that, even if you can’t save enough gems, you may receive a free ancient shard every 3 days from the store.
