[Movie News] In Theaters This Week – April 23, 2021

In Theaters 3.6.20

This week sees three new films premiere, including the newest arrival to HBO Max. There is a thriller about a veteran who has to defend a VA hospital under attack by terrorists, a drama about a couple who has broken up but pretend they’re still together while attending a wedding, and the much-anticipated new Mortal Kombat film. There’s a special treat, as the first seven minutes of the film have been released for your viewing pleasure!

Assault on VA-33 (R)

Decorated veteran and PTSD sufferer, Jason Hill (Flanery) meets his wife, Jennifer, for lunch at the Veteran’s Affairs hospital where she works. After Jennifer is called away for an emergency consultation with the head of US Military’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, the hospital is taken hostage by heavily armed terrorists. Jason becomes the last line of defense and must battle the terrorists and his own PTSD induced demons to save his wife, the General, the hospital’s staff and patients.

Mortal Kombat (R)

We Broke Up

Longtime couple Lori and Doug break up just days before Lori’s little sister Bea’s wedding to Jayson. In order to not disrupt the fun, they decide to pretend they’re still together until the weekend is over.
