Face front, true believers! The fine folks at IDW have done it again by putting out another superb Artist Edition! This time the spotlight is on the one and only Jim Lee. A name revered and beloved by comic book lovers the world over, this weighty tome features Jim’s work from his early days when he was working on the X-Men at that mighty House of Ideas…Marvel Comics. Grab your capes and get ready to fly off on an adventure into the terrific work of a talented and dedicated member of the comics profession.

Writing: As far as writing goes, each X-Men comic housed in this fine book is top-notch stuff. In addition to scripts laid out by the legendary Chris Claremont, there are also great works of superhero fiction that were co-plotted by Jim alongside Chris, as well as John Byrne and Scott Lobdell. At this point in time, X-Men’s popularity was exploding even further and the various stories included in the Artist Edition will be thoroughly enjoyed by anyone who picks it up. 

ArtJim Lee remains a household name among comic fans. Even in the earlier stages of his career, he was already a superstar for dynamic linework, slick penciling, and richly-detailed characters. Every single page is jam-packed with the kind of art that is indicative of the caliber of Jim’s work over the decades he has been active as an illustrator.
