1815 – “Emma” By Jane Austen by published by John Murray in London
1823 – The poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas” by Clement C. Moore (” ‘Twas the night before Christmas…”) was published.
1888 – Vincent van Gogh cuts off his left ear with a razor, after argument with fellow painter Paul Gauguin, and sends to a prostitute for safe keeping
1912 – first “Keystone Kops” film, titled “Hoffmeyer’s Legacy”
1954 – The Walt Disney movie “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” was released.
1973 – “Young and Restless” premieres on TV
