1789 – U.S. Congress establishes Department of Foreign Affairs, now referred to as the State Department.
1940 – The animated short “A Wild Hare” is released, introducing the character of Bugs Bunny.
1949 – first jet-propelled airliner, the De Havilland Comet flies
1988 – Radio Shack announces Tandy 1000 SL computer
1993 – Windows NT 3.1 released
