“Pants Optional” is a new Zoom video interview feature where we connect with individuals within the comic book community. It’s a way to see/hear what creators have been doing during a quarantine, projects which may be in motion during this downtime, and noteworthy events and happenings taking place in lieu of conventions, appearances, and the weekly NCBD grind.
For Episode VI, I spoke with Frank Gogol. The creator of the Ringo Award-nominated anthology GRIEF, and writer of the smash hit DEAD END KIDS, is back at Source Point Press with his latest project NO HEROINE. The new, four-issue miniseries will be available June 24th and features art from Criss Madd, colors by Shawna Madd, and lettering from Sean Rinehart.
Here’s a bit of background info on Frank Gogol:
Gogol’s first book, GRIEF, was nominated for the Ringo Award for Best Anthology in 2019. Gogol and his second book, Dead End Kids, were named Best Writer and Best New Series of 2019, respectively, by the Independent Creator Awards.
Here’s a preview of NO HEROINE’s debut issue:
NO HEROINE #1
In Shops: June 24, 2020
Drugs. Vampires. Punk rock. Clawing her way to her 90th day sober, Kayla sets out to find her missing friend, Sid – the one person she knows can keep her on the straight-and narrow. The only problem? The gang of heroine-dealing vampires that have him.
From the writer of 2019’s breakout indie hit Dead End Kids comes a story of a young woman’s recovery journey and one hard truth: not everyone is cut out to be a hero.
Without further from me, here’s my chat with Frank Gogol as we chat about the next series you’re going to want to collect – NO HEROINE.
Special thanks to Frank Gogol for taking the time to speak with us. Be sure to follow Frank & Source Point Press online (links below). And don’t forget to snag a copy of NO HEROINE #1 when it goes on sale Wednesday, June 24th!
