1766 – first fire escape patented, it was a wicker basket on a pulley & chain
1820 – The Venus de Milo is discovered on the Aegean island of Milos
1879 – Milk sold in glass bottles for the first time
1959 – The Common Business-Oriented Language or COBOL was created. It was primarily designed by a woman, Grace Hopper.
1965 – “TIME” magazine featured a cover with the entire “Peanuts” comic gang
1966 – Time publishes its “Is God Dead” issue – its first issue without an image

1979 – 204th & final episode of “All in the Family”
1990 – Twin Peaks television serial drama created by David Lynch and Mark Frost premieres on ABC

1997 – Microsoft Corp releases Internet Explorer 4.0
2001 – Microsoft Corp. released Internet Explorer 6.0
