1887 – The telescopic fishing rod was patented by Everett Horton.
1922 – Rudolf Heinrich Baer, father of the video game console was born in Rodalben, Palatinate, Germany
1936 – First Daytona car race for stock car racing participants, and was considered an early start of what people now know as the Daytona 500.
1945 – Micky Dolenz (George Michael Dolenz, Jr.) was born in Los Angeles, California
1959 – Groucho, Chico & Harpo Marx’s final TV appearance together
1969 – First Pontiac Firebird Trans Am introduced
