This was a small event, nowhere near the scale of Wizard World Chicago. They did not have the big name celebrity draw of most of the other Wizard Worlds and their artist alley was rather small. We walked the entire floor in under an hour.
I did not expect the event to be the scale of Chicago, but seeing as it cost $65 to get my son in, I was hoping to at least get my money’s worth. The high price of tickets was ridiculous and obviously kept a lot of locals away. It didn’t help that discount codes weren’t working for online sales either.
Another big negative in my books was that parking would only take cash payments. It was only $7 to park, but there were no warnings on line or even before you got to the parking lot that they don’t take credit cards. What sort of venue doesn’t take credit cards these days? It also makes it hard to keep track of business expenses when you can’t charge it. They gave me a tiny ticket as a receipt that has no dates on it. This is not Wizard World’s fault, but I’m sure it added to a lot of frustration for everyone.
Overall, I put the event on par with a lot of the local events where I don’t need to spend nearly as much money to get in. The event itself was not worth the price of admission or the two hour drive but the cosplay was.
