Anime Central (ACEN) is a three-day event held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Chicago. This is known as the midwest’s largest anime convention.
The event is a cavalcade of events including cosplay meetups, dance events, masquerades, costume contests, video and tabletop gaming, and a slew of panels. You also have opportunities to meet some of your favorite artists, voice actors, and animators while shopping for all sorts of gear to celebrate your fandom.
Like all conventions, ACEN was not without its problems. The biggest problems are those caused by irresponsible drinking. There are reports of ambulances being called multiple times to the hotels to deal with over-indulgences. There was hotel damage, empty bottles left in public bathrooms, and security even had to tackle one guy that was out of control.
Another problem that has been brought to light is one hotel appears to be overcharging and/or double-charging credit cards, so make sure you check your statement.
If you are one of the people overcharged, call your credit card immediately, then call the hotel. If neither of those work, call the main chain number.
Overall, most people enjoyed themselves. This was an opportunity to see old friends, make new ones, and share your enjoyment of a fandom. Thanks to Dominque Richardson a.k.a. rwbysniper for the great photos. Follow them on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook
