What do you get when a show’s biggest star leaves? In the case of Roseanne, you get the spin-off show The Conners. Following last season’s ousting of star Roseanne Barr from the showing following a number of controversial tweets, ABC has decided to go ahead and continue the show without her. This has given us the spin-off The Conners, named after the family that Roseanne followed.
Not much is known about about the show, but here is the official summary of the show:
After a sudden turn of events, the Conners are forced to face the daily struggles of life in Lanford in a way they never have before. This iconic family – Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky and D.J. – grapple with parenthood, dating, an unexpected pregnancy, financial pressures, aging and in-laws in working-class America. Through all the fights, the coupon cutting, the hand-me-downs and the breakdowns, the family prevails with love, humor and perseverance.
Last week gave us our first photos from the series, which feature Laurie Metcalf, John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, and Lecy Goranson. The show will also have Michael Fishman, Jayden Rey, Ames McNamara and Emma Kenney. Maya Lynne Robinson will also be joining the show as DJ’s (Fishman) wife and the mother of Jayden Rey’s character Mary.
ABC also recently released a short teaser video for the show, announcing that The Conners will premiere Tuesday, October 16 at 8pm Eastern/7pm Central.
