Our Picks in Great Superhero Series
1. Jessica Jones
The first item on our list is one of Marvel’s wunderkinder – Jessica Jones. The plot of the series revolves around Jones, a private investigator with a recurrent alcohol addiction. Mind you, Jessica is not a common P.I., as she has been gifted with some very special superpowers which include superhuman strength and the ability to see what others can’t. The detective’s life takes a turn for the worse the night she’s supposed to deliver a subpoena to Gregory Spheeris, a strip club owner. There, Jones will show off her powers and meet Luke Cage, a bar owner whom Jessica falls for.
2. The Punisher
In a world where crime is more real than reality itself, an entire city cries out for a hero to bring the bad guys to justice. Unfortunately, the only guy available is Frank Castle, a man for whom a high body count is just another typical day at the office. Inspired by cult-classic video game Max Payne, this superhero series is sure to keep you on edge. The storytelling’s just amazing, and Jon Bernthal does a great job at bringing the comic book anti-hero to life. Follow Castle as he shoots, kicks, and punches his way through the city’s crime-infested streets.
3. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
Because we told you that we have a little surprise, let’s talk about He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Does it ring a bell? Of course it does, because it’s one of the best superhero series period. Plot-wise, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe tells the story of Prince Adam, the young heir to the throne of Eternia, a planet ruled by Queen Marlena and King Randor.
Adam might appear to be a spoiled prince, but he, in fact, is the planet’s last hope against the evil Skeletor, who plans on bringing death and destruction to the galaxy. Armed with the mythical Sword of Power and wielding the powers of Castle Grayskull, Prince Adam can transform, at will, into He-Man, the most powerful being in the universe. Even though he’s a great warrior, He-Man still needs some worthy allies by his side. In his quest of defeating Skeletor, Prince Adam’s helped by Battle Cat, his trusty pet tiger, Teela, Man-At-Arms, The Sorceress, and Orko.
4. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
If you’re a true fan of Marvel’s superheroes movies and series, then the name of S.H.I.E.L.D. will not come as a surprise. Set after the events of Captain America The Winter Soldier, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. tells the story of Agent Phil Coulson, a charismatic operative who manages to put together a team of elite agents in an attempt to deal with alien threats. With the Avengers on the fritz, it now falls on Coulson and his band of ruthless operatives to find and deal with alien threats, no matter where they are. This is one of those superhero series that shouldn’t be missed, especially if you are a Marvel die-hard fan.
The last item on our list of great superhero series is Daredevil, a series with so much spunk and unexpected turns of events that it gives a whole new meaning to the term of “binge-watching.” Daredevil tells the story of Matt Murdock, a lawyer with his own firm. However, there’s something more to Mr. Murdock other than being a crackerjack lawyer.
When he was only a kid, Murdock lost his sight as a result of a chemical spill. Still, as one part of the world closed to him, countless others opened. As the years passed by, with no cure for his blindness, Murdock honed his senses, becoming more powerful and insightful than any human being. His newly-acquired superpowers granted him the tools to become Daredevil, a vigilante that patrols the streets of Hell’s Kitchen at night in search of crimes.
Daredevil may be the last item on our list, but there are a lot more superhero series currently streaming on Netflix that you can enjoy.
