Just like any member of a movie, a film’s composer is an important part of the crew. They create the music that helps enhance what is happening on-screen, and compose those iconic themes that we leave the movie theater humming.
Marvel’s first female-centric superhero film doesn’t come out until next year, but it is already making breakthroughs. Not only does Captain Marvel have a host of women working behind the scenes, but for the first time in a comic book film, a woman will compose its score.
It was announced the other day that Pinar Toprak would be composing Captain Marvel‘s score. The Turkish-American is not new to scoring superhero productions. She wrote additional music for Justice League, and recently finished working on season one of Syfy’s Krypton. She also spent time working in renowned composer Hans Zimmer‘s studio. Since then, she has scored numerous video games, TV series, and films.
