Ever since it was announced that actress Brie Larson would be taking up the mantle of Captain Marvel as Carol Danvers in the MCU, fans have been excited to see what this version of the interstellar hero might look like. Well, the wait is finally over! Earlier today, photos of Larson on set in her suit were posted on Twitter by Page Six and MCU News & Tweets.
This likely is not what most fans were expecting, as most fans are used to to her red, blue and yellow costume. However, it still has that signature star in the middle of her chest. The colors likely reference a previous version of character. The original Captain Marvel, also known as Mar-Vell, and was a member of the Kree, who we saw in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Given that the MCU is shifting toward more a more galactic scale, I think it is likely that we will see more of the blue-skinned race in the upcoming Captain Marvel film.
Two days ago, Larson also tweeted out a photo of herself in a flight suit with the caption “Learning to fly.” Before becoming Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers was a captain in the Air Force, so this is definitely an aspect of the characters that fans were expecting to see.
Captain Marvel arrives in theaters March 19, 2019.
