NWI Comic-Con Is Coming Up Next Weekend!

NWI Comic-Con is happening next weekend on February 25th and PopCultHQ will be there! This convention was started by Brian Grabinski in 2014 to provide local con-goers with an affordable and family-friendly option in the Northwest Indiana region. It has quickly been embraced by the local community, seeing exponential growth year after year, going from 2,000 attendees in 2014 to nearly 4,000 attendees last year.

Mandalorian Bounty Hunter

There is something for all pop-culture fans. VIP guests include former Disney animator Philo Barnhardt, comic artist Mike Norton, and Magic: The Gathering artist Jim Pavelec. Some highlights from the schedule include a children’s cosplay parade, teen and adult cosplay contests presented by Luis Marquez and Matt Valuckis, an eskrima presentation, and drawing presentations. There will also be an artist alley, dealers, and cosplay guests such as Casey Renee Cosplay, Wulfgar Weapons, and Termina Cosplay.

NWI Comic-Con is also committed to giving back to the community. In past years, they have raised over $2,000 for two local charities – Northwest Indiana Cancer Kids Foundation and the Humane Society Calumet Area. Monetary donations will be accepted, as well as donated items to be auctioned, sold, and raffled off at the convention, with all proceeds being divided between the two charities.

Tickets are very affordable at only $8 for adults (18 and older) and $2 for children (ages 3-11). There is also free parking available (something unheard of at larger conventions).

If you live in the area and are looking for something to do, you should definitely stop by the Halls of St. George in Schererville, IN and check this convention out!
