AfterShock Comics Announces 2nd Collab w/ Garth Ennis on British Spy Thriller JIMMY’s BASTARDS

Ennis, after telling a magnificent story in DREAMING EAGLES (a WWII period piece inspired by real events), is back for another round as he now brings an ongoing series to AfterShock. His new book JIMMY’S BASTARDS is centered on Jimmy Regent, a suave, stylish, sophisticated super-spy, Britain’s greatest secret agent faces insurmountable odds as he takes on the deadliest organization in the world. And they kinda look like someone he knows…
Jimmy Regent is Britain’s number one super spy, a devastatingly handsome secret agent with a license to kill and style to match. Sailing effortlessly through mission after mission with wit and panache, defying danger again and again, Jimmy always triumphs and always gets the girl- gets rather a lot of girls, actually. But now a new and particularly dangerous secret organization has arisen, their sights fixed firmly on Jimmy’s head. Two hundred young men and women in ultimate physical condition, trained in all the arts of deception and death, each bearing a curious facial resemblance to… Jimmy? Every one united with one terrible aim: Get Daddy.
Writer Garth Ennis
AfterShock made working on Dreaming Eagles a great experience,” said the Eisner Award-winning writer. “I can’t think of a better home for Jimmy’s Bastards. I’m sure Jimmy would agree – as indeed would his bastards.”

Mike Marts, Editor-in-Chief at AfterShock, talks about how grateful the indie publisher is and how it is driving them to even greater things in 2017,

During our first year as a publisher, AfterShock worked with over 100 talented creators to help bring to life incredible stories from some of the best in the business. Thanks to overwhelmingly positive support from fans and retailers, AfterShock will continue to expand its content in 2017 through partnerships with both industry favorites and up and comers.

Today’s announcement is more than a “Yay! Garth has a new series!” While that is practically implied with the caliber of talent as Ennis, looking deeper shows something even greater. AfterShock Comics sent tremors through the industry in 2016 with breakout series like ANIMOSITY, Marguerite Bennett’s second title with the company which returned to the printers four times to keep up with demand. ALTERS injected the comic book community with a long overdue story and certainly led the way in ushering in transgender superheroes in a lead role which people can look up to. Every title AfterShock has invested in and released has been exceptional. Having Garth Ennis return and say to the team at AfterShock, “You’re the one I want to publish my story” speak volumes. More details including art, release date and order info to be announced soon!
Garth Ennis made a rare convention appearance at NYCC this past October specifically to be represent AfterShock Comics and for the release of his Dreaming Eagles miniseries in hardcover format, and an exclusive NYCC cover. During that time, PopCultHQ was fortunate to get in an interview with the acclaimed writer where he talks about working with AfterShock and even alludes to this upcoming title.

With several new series debuting in 2017, comic enthusiasts can expect new releases from leading creators that include John Layman with Sam Keith, Frank Tieri, Jeff Loveness and more. There will also be new titles announced from AfterShock’s current family of creators including Adam Glass and Justin Jordan.
