PZ2Planet Zero is a futuristic tale of a dying Earth. The downtrodden inhabitants are forced to flee into outer space in search of a new home. A home of hope. The war ultimately follows them to their new planet and its a fight for survival. Is war an inevitability or can the factions come to an accord? Can the human race survive?

PZ1People, upon arriving on Hope, are assigned to teams based on their skillset. Our protagonist, Ray Tupulex is a mechanic, a job of high demand. As soon as he is assigned to his squad, he immediately gets to work and is thrown into action. While we don’t learn much about Ray, he’s obviously the guy to follow in the series and you get a sense at that when his story is revealed, it’s really going to open thing up for the series.

Planet Zero #1 draws some great parallels to such sci-fi classics as Battlestar Galactica and Firefly, where the planet they once lived could no longer be inhabited and a search begins for a new planet to call home. The first four pages are beautifully laid out in terms of the writing and the art. Writer Rosi delivers a strong, descriptive narrative to give you the background and emotion of what has transpired. I feel these pages are Cardoselli’s strongest illustrations as the panels capture the grim, dark and bleak situations the distraught residents of Earth have endured.

Look for issue two to add to its character development, as the focus on this issue was primarily of the relocation to the planet Hope and the raging battle that’s transpiring. All in all, this looks to have the potential for a good sci-fi series, as it’s theme currently isn’t found on other titles right now.
