Conan Pays Touching Tribute To Comedian Garry Shandling

PopCultHQ was saddened by the news of actor/comedian Garry Shandling’s passing yesterday (3/24/16).  From his stand-up routines, his comedic writing, his own television shows, and countless films, Shandling left a huge impression in the field of comedy. Shandling was nominated for 19 Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards throughout his career, along with many other awards and nominations. When he wasn’t behind the scenes writing, he made appearances in some highly successful film and television shows, including:

  • Dr. Dolittle
  • Zoolander
  • Over the Hedge
  • Iron Man 2
  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier
  • The X-Files
  • It’s Garry Shandling’s Show
  • The Larry Sanders Show

When the news broke of Shandling’s death and it fell upon Conan O’Brien’s ears just a few hours before the taping of his late night talk show, he felt he wanted to honor and remember the comedic great with a special tribute and highlights from Garry’s appearances on Conan’s show.

Conan fondly remembers his friend Garry, a supremely innovative &​ intelligent comedian, who counseled Conan throughout his life.

Garry Shandling passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016. He was 66.
