After a 13-year hiatus, The X-Files is returning to the small screen. The hit sci-fi series, which spawned nine seasons and two films, is coming back to the Fox network for a special six-episode event. This new series will focus on agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson), their son William, and will see the resurrection of The Lone Gunmen.
For all you X-philes (see what I did there?), a newly released video montage by the Fox network is chock-full of all kinds of feels for the series return. It features new star Joel McHale, interviews with creator Chris Carter and cast members, details on the running mythology episodes and the “monster of the week” episodes, a look at Mulder and Scully’s teenage son William, and some great outtakes. This video is also a great refresher for those who haven’t watched the show since it ended in 2002. You also get a preview of writer Darin Morgan’s installment “Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster.” In bringing the beloved agents back, and delving further into the synergy between the two, Morgan explains the heart of the series…
“We’ve always tried to have a human element. It was always tied to how it affected Mulder and Scully as human beings, and same here. They’re going through all these weird stories but the throughlines is them confronting their age and confronting their life choices.”
Take a look at this incredible documentary and get ready as The X-Files returns on Sunday, January 24th, 2016.
