Star Trek: Discovery is the latest addition to Gene Rodenberry‘s world and here is everything we know about the series so far:
1. It is the sixth TV series in the franchise and will debut September 24th on CBS with plans to put subsequent episodes on the CBS-streaming channel CBS All Access.

2. The series stars Sonequa Martin-Green as Michael Burnham, the first human educated on Vulcan. She is educated at the Vulcan Science Academy under the tutelage of Sarek, Spock’s father (James Frain). She is a brilliant Starfleet Officer who is forced to make a decision that will impact the entire Federation.
3. According to Executive Producer Aaron Harberts,”When we meet her, she’s the First Officer on the Starship Shenzhou. And Burnham’s choice that we’re alluding to is most difficult choice you can make — it affects her, affects Starfleet, affects the Federation, it affects the entire universe. That choice leads her to a different ship, the Discovery and there we begin what Gretchen and I call our ‘second pilot.’”

5. It will take place 10 years before the original series and apparently takes place in the original universe as the star character is educated on Vulcan, and there has been no mention of New Vulcan. This means that nothing which occurs in the more recent movies has any relevance on the series.
6. The series also stars Michelle Yeoh as Captain Georgiou, Jason Isaacs as Captain Lorca , Doug Jones as Lt. Saru and Anthony Rapp as Lt. Stamets.
7. Star Trek: Discovery will be the first TV show to feature two starships on a regular basis, the title ship and the U.S.S. Shenzou.
8. The infamous character Harry Mudd (Rainn Wilson) will feature in several of the episodes.
9. We have been told that Klingons will feature heavily in this series, the question is…which Klingons will we see? Personally I would love to see the originals, as it is before the original series.
10. The show violates one of Gene Roddenberry’s series rules. Gene wanted to portray a Utopian society so one of his main rules was that the main characters were not allowed to mistreat each other or have conflicts that weren’t quickly resolved. So we can probably expect to see a lot of conflicts between our major characters and I am guessing that might be where the two different ships come into play.
